
SHARING A LOVE FOR LITERACY AT CES: 4th grade students at Clinton Elementary School recently read with Pre-K students! Reading a book aloud to someone and listening to someone read a book are both great ways to develop your literacy skills.




ART AND SCIENCE COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS AT EFMS: Students at East Feliciana Middle School visited the Louisiana Art & Science Museum in Baton Rouge on January 19. They had the opportunity to engage in a variety of hands-on science experiments and activities.


EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS AT EF STEAM: 6th grade students at the East Feliciana STEAM Academy programmed microbits to play popular games.


FUN WITH PHONICS AT SES: Students in Mrs. Post’s kindergarten class at Slaughter Elementary School have been using technology to work on phonics skills that support literacy growth.



KNOWLEDGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT CES: Pre-K students at Clinton Elementary School learned about construction and how to plan their construction using blueprints. They had to ensure their structures and foundation were strong enough to withstand a level 1-5 earthquake.




HANDS ON LEARNING AT JES: Students in Ms. Leonard’s class at Jackson Elementary School have been practicing strategies for identifying and counting money. Students in Mrs. Bell’s Pre-K class have been practicing their fine motor skills by making macaroni art!



POETRY IN MOTION AT EFHS: Last week, the EFHS English Department presented the “On a Cold Night of Winter” Poetry Slam. Students recited winter-themed works by their favorite poets & even shared some of their own work. Thanks to all who supported our students’ artistic endeavors!

COLLABORATION IS KEY IN ENGLISH I AT EFMS: English I students at East Feliciana Middle School collaborated to find textual evidence that supported answers to text dependent questions. English I is one way students at EFMS have an opportunity to earn high school credit.




Students at Clinton Elementary, Jackson Elementary, and Slaughter Elementary celebrated the 100th Day of School by transforming into older and wiser students for the day!




ENERGY SOLUTIONS AT CES: 4th grade students at Clinton Elementary School came up with solutions to convert motion energy to electric energy by designing and making wind turbines that spin when moving air blows over them.




Congratulations to our EFHS Tigers girls basketball team, who won their Senior Night game at home last Friday against the Northeast High School Vikings by a final score of 44-35! The Tigers play at Dunham tonight at 6:30 in the district tournament semifinals.

LEARNING LAB SAFETY AT EF STEAM: Sixth grade students at the East Feliciana STEAM Academy have been learning the ins and outs of lab biosecurity and how to manage the school’s aquaponics lab.



DISCOVERY LEARNING AT SES: Students in Mrs. Hopkins’ and Mrs. McCurley’s Pre-K classes at Slaughter Elementary School have been exploring construction and tools to develop their engineering and problem solving skills.



WE HAVE A DREAM! Ms. Turner’s ESS students at Jackson Elementary School celebrated Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Day by listening to a story about his life, making their own books, and creating posters about their own dreams!


4-H and Cloverbud students at Slaughter Elementary had fun at their January Club meetings! K-3 students learned about local birds and how to make a pine cone bird feeder, while 4-6 students learned about nutrition and growing cabbage. They even got to eat some smothered cabbage!
