
4-H and Cloverbud students at Slaughter Elementary had fun at their January Club meetings! K-3 students learned about local birds and how to make a pine cone bird feeder, while 4-6 students learned about nutrition and growing cabbage. They even got to eat some smothered cabbage!



Creative Cuisines at EFMS: Prior to winter break, members of the East Feliciana Middle School 4-H Club engaged in some hands on learning at the Young Chefs Academy in Baton Rouge.



GROWING AS PROFESSIONALS AT EFHS: During their professional development day on January 7, teachers at EFHS engaged in an think pair share activity. Teachers at EFHS use research based strategies such as think-pair-share to increase engagement and responses in their classrooms


Last month, the East Feliciana Enrichment Academy sent wishes for a safe and joyful holiday season to all visitors to their campus!


Jackson Elementary School students are continually tracking their progress towards their academic goals. To fit the school’s “Pokemon Trainer Club” PBIS theme, they earn special Pokemon cards for scoring on or above target.


Last month, students at the East Feliciana STEAM Academy explored forces of motion through field testing the movement of objects.


Slaughter Elementary School’s top sellers of cookie dough each received a free tub of cookie dough. Thank you to all of the family and community support, which will assist with the purchase of two new pieces of playground equipment!


Jackson Elementary Talented Theatre students performed a Reader’s Theatre piece at the school’s daily Morning Meeting under the direction of their teacher, Dr. Eddie Elsey. They showcased their work on projection & expression; the JES students and staff loved their performance!


INSIDE US HISTORY AT EFHS: Last month, students at East Feliciana High School reviewed secondary sources and revised their claims as they wrote essays about events in the early 20th century.




BUILDING A BETTER MOUSETRAP (CAR): East Feliciana Middle School students enrolled in Introduction to STEM Pathways and Careers created mousetrap cars and raced them to see whose would go the farthest.


EFEA HONORS DR. KING'S LEGACY: Last week, students at the East Feliciana Enrichment Academy watched a video of the “I Have A Dream” speech. Then they planned and presented a speech on their own dreams. Mrs. Matthews modeled for the students how to give a speech.




PROJECT-BASED LEARNING AT EF STEAM: Students at the East Feliciana STEAM
Academy designed board games in their social studies classes to demonstrate their mastery of content and provide their peers with a chance to learn the content in a fun and engaging way.





'TWAS THE SEASON AT SES: Last month, students at Slaughter Elementary School enjoyed scratch art, bingo, and drawing a snowman without looking!





Last month, students in Mrs. Leonard’s ESS class at Jackson Elementary learned about the location of the North Pole and practiced their writing skills by writing and addressing letters to Santa.


Last month at Clinton Elementary School, a season of joy brought painting with patterns, ugly sweaters, reindeer, Santa, and more!






PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE AT EAST FELICIANA HIGH SCHOOL: On Thursday, November 30th, some of East Feliciana High School’s junior and senior ESS students attended the Transition and Resource Fair at Zachary High School. There were representatives from various organizations to speak with ESS students about services that are available after graduation. Some of the organizations included Capital Area Human Services, Southern University Disability Services, Youth Challenge Program, Southeastern Louisiana University Office of Disability, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, Merakey Gateway Transition, and Louisiana War Veterans Home.
