NEXT STOP: PARIS! Students in first grade at JES went on a travel simulation to Paris! They experienced going to the airport, going through customs with their own passport, boarding a plane, and more. Students engaged in learning about Parisian culture, landmarks and cuisine!
ARTS IN ACTION IN EAST FELICIANA PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Dr. Elsey and our talented theatre and art students hosted East Feliciana Public Schools’ inaugural “Showcase of the Arts” last Thursday. Thank you to all the families and community members who participated in this dynamic event!
EAST FELICIANA SHINES AT STATE TRACK & FIELD MEET: Congratulations to our East Feliciana High School Track & Field coaches and athletes for an outstanding showing at the LHSAA Class 2A State Track & Field Meet on Friday. Kariah Dunn finished 3rd in the high jump, La’Chanden McCorkle finished 3rd in the shot put, and Herman Batiste finished 2nd in the high jump and 1st in the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, and long jump. Herman was named outstanding performer in Class 2A, and the East Feliciana High School boys’ team finished 4th place overall in Class 2A with a total of 44 points. Congratulations as well to the Slaughter Community Charter School girls’ team, who finished 3rd in the state at the 1A Meet on Thursday!
FINANCIAL LITERACY AT EFHS: April is National Youth Financial Literacy Month! Pelican State Credit Union visited East Feliciana High School to provide a free youth financial education program to celebrate.
Right before Spring Break, students at East Feliciana STEAM Academy visited Global Wildlife in rural Tangipahoa Parish to have a close encounter with a variety of animals. They compared and contrasted the care of these animals to the care they provide to the animals at EF STEAM.
READY TO BEAT THE LEAP AT EFMS: Prior to beginning their state assessments, students at East Feliciana Middle School participated in a Quiz Bowl where they worked on teams to compete in rotations centered on core subjects.
FOCUSING ON FIRE SAFETY AT SES: Second grade students at Slaughter Elementary School visited the Slaughter Volunteer Fire Department to learn about fire safety and the operations of a local fire department.
Studying War and Diplomacy at EFHS: Students enrolled in world geography at East
Feliciana High School participated in a research simulation where they acted as the rulers and leaders of different countries. Students engaged in conflict and diplomacy with the other nations across class periods to demonstrate the strengths of their countries.

EXPLORING NATURAL SELECTION AT EFAE: Students at the East Feliciana Enrichment Academy explored natural selection through a hands-on “bottle neck” learning lab where they measured, recorded, and interpreted their findings.

Last month during their science class, first grade students at Jackson Elementary School explored why it is daytime and nighttime in different locations.
Students at East Feliciana High School developed anchor charts that describe jobs within major career clusters. Each student identified a job they would be interested in under a given career cluster and conducted research to determine the role of the profession, education required, salary, and the approximate number of professionals within that career. Ensuring every student is on track to graduate with the credentials and competencies necessary to be successful in a pathway of their choice is a priority of East Feliciana Public Schools’ strategic plan.
Jackson Elementary School hosted their annual spring Sneaker Ball last month. The event was an opportunity for families, students, and staff to enjoy a fun evening together in style! Thank you to the JES team whose hard work made this event possible!
