SHAPING THE FUTURE WITH ART AT CES: Last week, students at Clinton Elementary School painted their unit project in art class. The unit covers creating drawings using geometric shapes and blending colors.
This week, juniors at East Feliciana High School participated in their class ring ceremony, signing the commitment to graduate and celebrating their success through their high school journey so far.
Mrs. Smith’s 2nd graders at Slaughter Elementary are working on repeated addition. Many of her students are writing multiplication sentences already! Mrs. Smith uses small group instruction as an opportunity to accelerate all students’ learning based on their individual needs.

CARING FOR CARROTS AT EF STEAM: 7th graders at the East Feliciana STEAM Academy took a break from programming their microbits to tend to their gardens. They harvested a whole bucket of carrots, continuing their discussion on how carrots naturally grow in different shapes and how these carrots are actually more “natural” than the “picture-perfect” carrots you may see in stores.
Last month, East Feliciana High School hosted a Black History Month program entitled 'What Can You Contribute to the Future - African Americans and the Arts.' The program featured a skit inspired by the theme entitled "Black to the Future."
STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT AT EFMS: The student-led Black History showcase at East Feliciana Middle School featured celebrations of inspirational figures like astronaut Mae Jemison as well as opportunities for students to highlight their own public speaking skills.
As part of celebrating Black History Month, students at East Feliciana Enrichment Academy incorporated English language arts into their science learning by reading the book ‘Gifted Hands’ by neurosurgeon Ben Carson and developing presentations & acrostic poems about Dr. Carson.
INVESTIGATING TEXTS TO CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY AT SES: At Slaughter Elementary School, 6th graders worked collaboratively in Mrs. Green’s English language arts class to celebrate Black History Month by diving into text about Muhammad Ali.
Jackson Elementary School’s annual Black History Program showcased students’ amazing talent and knowledge. The program, titled “Homecoming: Honoring Louisiana HBCUs and Their Legacies,” featured student readings and performances highlighting
each HBCU as well as the “Divine 9” fraternities and sororities. The entire school participated in a mass choir led by music teacher Mr. Bryant Harris, a proud HBCU graduate who also sang and played his trumpet in the program. Thank you to Mr.
Bryson London, 5th and 6th grade teacher, for planning and organizing this awesome celebration of Black History.
