Students at EFMS heard a presentation from Pete Jory with the organization I CARE to make them more aware of the dangers of vaping. The East Feliciana Public Schools Exceptional Student Services Department hosted their annual Transition Open House on March 28, 2023 at East Feliciana High School. Students, parents, and community members attended the event aimed at connecting families to self-advocacy, independent living, employment opportunities, and other supports. Agencies and providers talked one-on-one with parents and students seeking options to help students transition into careers and life after graduation. The goal of the Transition Open House was to make sure parents in East Feliciana Public Schools have every opportunity to be informed and advocate for their child and to empower students for self-advocacy. The ESS Department thanks all the providers and agencies that attended this event and helped our students be a step closer to transition! Participants included Baton Rouge Community College, Acadian Ambulance, Capital Area Developmental Disabilities, Families Helping Families, Educational Talent Search Program of Southern University and A&M College, Dixon Correction Institute, Upward Bound Program of Baton Rouge Community College and Southern University, Pelican State Credit Union, Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System, and Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program.

Last month, students enrolled in Intro to Engineering at EFHS, an LSU pathways course, were able to tour the LSU College of Engineering's Patrick F. Taylor Hall and machine shop. Students were able to see hands-on labs connected to 11 disciplines of engineering.

The East Feliciana Parish School Board recently recognized Michelle Dennis Bell, Pre K teacher at Jackson Elementary School. The JES Pre K program earned an overall Fall 2022 performance rating of Excellent based on observations using CLASS, a nationally-recognized instrument.
