East Feliciana High School recently hosted a pathway career fair for all current 8th through 11th graders. Students were able to learn about college and career opportunities related to our pre-engineering, pre-educator, and environmental protection & sustainability pathways as well as opportunities in trades and for service. Community partners attending the EFHS Student Pathways fair included Baton Rouge Community College, Baton Rouge Fire Department, attorney LaTigdra Brown, Country Boy Smokers, barber Sammy Davis, DEMCO, the East Feliciana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, East Feliciana Public Schools Human Resources, LSU College of Engineering, Pelican State Credit Union, the Southern University Ag Center, RKM Primary Care, and Upward Bound. Students in FFA, EFHS pre-engineering classes, and EFHS pre-educator classes also shared with their peers about their experiences. Ensuring each student has a clear pathway to graduate from high school with a meaningful credential is a priority of East Feliciana Public Schools.

Last week, first grade astronomers at both Clinton Elementary School and Slaughter Elementary School took their learning outside as they made observations about different sources of light and objects in the sky. This unit on astronomy is part of our Amplify science curriculum.

In partnership with the LSU AgCenter, the Louisiana College of Agriculture, and
Louisiana 4-H, students at Jackson Elementary School had the opportunity last month to visit the Parker Coliseum on the campus of LSU in Baton Rouge to participate in AgMagic. This interactive, visually stimulating educational journey through Louisiana agriculture allows students to see, explore, and learn about agriculture and the environment as well as the important role each plays in our daily lives.
CES Pre-K students are participating in a thematic learning unit - "Creative Me"! Last week, they learned how to become an artist. A book titled The Dot taught them that even if you don’t think you can do something, you should try anyway - even if it’s starting off with a dot!
Financial Literacy at JES: Pelican State Credit Union visited Jackson Elementary School to teach a financial literacy class to 4th grade students. Building community partnerships is a priority of East Feliciana Public Schools' strategic plan.

Last month, the JES PBIS team hosted a "March Madness" teacher & student basketball game to celebrate great behavior. Special thanks to EFHS athletic director Cedric Anderson for arranging use of the EFHS gym & to members of the EFHS boys' basketball team for refereeing the game!
