PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE AT EAST FELICIANA HIGH SCHOOL: On Thursday, November 30th, some of East Feliciana High School’s junior and senior ESS students attended the Transition and Resource Fair at Zachary High School. There were representatives from various organizations to speak with ESS students about services that are available after graduation. Some of the organizations included Capital Area Human Services, Southern University Disability Services, Youth Challenge Program, Southeastern Louisiana University Office of Disability, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, Merakey Gateway Transition, and Louisiana War Veterans Home.

PAINTING WITH PARENTS AT EFMS: Families had the opportunity to engage in the fine arts on Thursday, December 16 at East Feliciana Middle School’s Painting with Parents event!
Slaughter Elementary School Family Literacy night last month was a success! Parents were updated on student progress by their child’s teacher, local author/educator Mrs. Taylor Corban read her book for story time, and families ended the evening with book bingo!
Last month at their annual Holiday Literacy Night, Jackson Elementary School students could visit Santa, listen to holiday stories, make craft projects based on books, & visit the Scholastic Book Fair. Santa awarded some Book Fair gift certificates to lucky winners at the event!
Last month, CES hosted a Literacy Night Out for families where parents learned about what students are doing in class concerning literacy, their student's progress, & how they can help at home. Parents also stopped by the book fair to purchase books & other items for their child.

BUILDING CONTENT-SPECIFIC VOCABULARY AT EFEA: East Feliciana Enrichment Academy student Kasei Matthews participates in an interactive review of social studies vocabulary.
SWEET DISCOVERIES IN EFHS BIOLOGY: Biology students at East Feliciana High developed their understanding of cellular processes such as protein synthesis by completing a “cookie lab” modeling DNA replication, transcription, and translation to simulate the production of protein.
Art students at East Feliciana Middle School had a special “Paint and Sip” session in class the week before the Thanksgiving holiday.
MAKING THE HOLIDAYS COUNT AT SES: Kindergarten students in Mrs. Gibbs’ class at Slaughter Elementary start their math warm up by counting ornaments on Christmas trees.
Students in Mrs. Bell’s Pre-K classes at Jackson Elementary School made holiday ornaments to develop their fine motor and art skills. The Pre-K program at JES received an “Excellent” rating, the highest rating possible, in their 2023 Performance Profile.
FAMILY CONNECTIONS AT CES: A Clinton Elementary School parent volunteered his time to read Pete the Cat and the Cool Cat Boogie to Pre-K students. He brought pizza, a lot of energy, and helpful information on how to face challenges.
Service Learning at EFHS: The East Feliciana High School carpentry class used their drill skills to hang new white boards in their classmates’ STEM pathways classrooms.
SPOTLIGHT ON MATH AT EFEA: Ms. Kelly’s mathematics class at the East Feliciana Enrichment Academy includes students in multiple grade levels who use Khan Academy, Zearn, and Edulastic to support their math learning.
